T20 Class at
Ploughing Matches
RULES FOR THE FERGUSON T20 and FORD FERGUSON TRACTORS
Since March 2008 The Society of Ploughmen Ltd have recognised the T20 Class and have produced standard rules for the class at all Ploughing Matches. All Clubs affiliated to The Society will receive a copy of these rules.
The Friends of Ferguson Heritage Ltd will be making the necessary arrangements for qualifiers for the National in 2009. There will be no T20 Class ploughing at the National in 2008 but FOFH will have a stand in the main arena in 2008.
The original rules were formulated by the Friends of Ferguson Heritage and were first applied in their 10th Anniversary Ploughing Match in 2004. Since then those rules have been adopted by many ploughing societies.Since March 2008 the responsibility for the implementation of the T20 Rules rests with The Society of Ploughmen Ltd.
The intention behind the campaign to adopt these rule nationally was to recognise the contribution Harry Ferguson made almost exclusively to tractor design in the UK and the World and to exhibit the fact that ploughing as an art can be achieved without the help of sophisticated attachments to the tractor and plough. The tractor and plough produced by Harry Ferguson were produced as one unit, not two seperate pieces of equipment. When used correctly the unit can produce general purpose ploughing that can stand up to the highest scrutiny.
